How does Totarol work so efficiently without ruining the skin barrier?
Unlike harsh chemical biocides that indiscriminately strip cell membranes, Totarol acts as a targeted respiratory inhibitor for specific microbes. It disrupts bacterial electron transport systems. Think of it as cutting off the energy supply to harmful bacteria while leaving the skin’s healthy lipids alone.
Let us look at the hard numbers. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) determines the minimum amount of an ingredient required to completely stop a microbe from multiplying.

Totarol is intensely fat-soluble (lipophilic). To get a crystal-clear distribution throughout your product, you must dissolve it properly before creating your final emulsion.
Manufacturing Instructions: Heat Phase A and Phase B separately to 65 degrees Celsius. Mix Phase B until the Totarol powder fully dissolves into the oil and glycol carrier. Pour Phase B into Phase A while running your high-shear mixer at 3000 RPM for 4 minutes. Cool down slowly to 35 degrees Celsius, then gently stir in Phase C.
