Glabridin, derived from Glycyrrhiza glabra roots imported by Shaanxi Huatai Bio from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, is a natural cosmetic ingredient. We strictly control quality parameters (e.g., pesticide residues) to meet new regulatory standards, aligning raw material specifications with finished product requirements.

As one of 101 FDA-approved food-medicinal extracts, glabridin inhibits tyrosinase activity for superior whitening and pigmentation control (7x more effective than SymWhite® 377 in vitro). It is versatile in aqueous/alcohol-based formulations and supports brands like Lancôme and Estée Lauder.

Glabridin has many effects and is praised as “Whitening Gold”. It can strongly resist bacteria, prevent inflammation, pigmentation and rough skin caused by ultraviolet rays. It can remove superoxide ions, inhibit hemolysis, highly inhibit the activity of tyrosinase and the activities of dopachrome tautomerase and DHICA oxidase. It is an excellent additive for whitening and freckle-removing cosmetics. It also has the ability to remove oxygen free radicals similar to SOD and vitamin E. At the same time, it has antioxidant and anti-atherosclerotic effects and also has certain effects of lowering blood lipid and blood pressure.

Glabridin is highly effective in skincare. It competes with tyrosinase for copper – ion binding, reducing its activity reversibly and dose – dependently, and cuts melanin synthesis by 40 – 60%.

It regulates the melanocyte signaling pathway by inhibiting MITF gene expression and α – MSH activation, blocking differentiation signals and lowering pathway efficiency.

With strong antioxidant power, it neutralizes ROS during melanogenesis, preventing oxidative hyperpigmentation. Combined with vitamin C in UVB models, it drops tyrosinase activity by 65%.

Moreover, it activates p53 and upregulates CKI, arresting melanocytes in G₁/S phase and decreasing functional melanocyte numbers.
